Teaching assistant (Y2 class)

Temporary Post – September 2018 start, initially until July 2019

Warden Park Primary Academy is committed to providing high quality learning for all children and wishes to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support the learning of a class of Y2 pupils. The post is for 27.5 hours per week (8:30 – 15:00, Monday to Friday) and is initially for the 2018-19 academic year, with the possibility of it becoming a permanent appointment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to support pupils’ learning across the curriculum.
  • Support individual pupils on a one-to-one basis or in a small group where appropriate and as required
  • Contribute towards assessment of children’s and target setting.
  • Have a passion and motivation for improving the lives of all children.
  • Have an optimistic attitude and be flexible to the demands of the job.
  • Demonstrate versatility, tact, commitment and the ability to use initiative.
  • Be patient and able to stay calm and listen and value children’s views.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and be expected to contribute to its development.
  • Have the ability to strictly maintain confidentiality
  • Be suitably qualified for the post of Teaching Assistant ie to have good basic literacy and numeracy skills (to GCSE level or above) and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Have experience of some behaviour management techniques.

3 x Special Needs Teaching Assistants

Temporary Posts – September 2018 start, initially until July 2019

Warden Park Primary Academy is committed to providing high quality learning for all children and wishes to appoint three SEN Teaching Assistants to support individual pupils/small groups of pupils across the school. One post is for 22.5 hours per week (8:30 – 13:00, Monday to Friday) and two posts are for 27.5 hours per week (8:30 – 15:00, Monday to Friday).  All post are initially for the 2018-19 academic year. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to support individual pupils to access the curriculum within a mainstream class.
  • Support individual pupils on a one-to-one basis or in a small group to develop their social skills eg. Taking turns, language skills and motor skills
  • Contribute towards IEP Reviews, Annual Reviews and target setting.
  • Have a passion and motivation for improving the lives of all children.
  • Have an optimistic attitude and be flexible to the demands of the job.
  • Demonstrate versatility, tact, commitment and the ability to use initiative.
  • Be patient and able to stay calm and listen and value children’s views.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and be expected to contribute to its development.
  • Have the ability to strictly maintain confidentiality

Nursery Class Teaching Assistant Bank Staff required as the Nursery expands  (this is likely to be April 2018)

Pay Scale – Sussex Learning Trust Grade 4 (actual pro rata salary range £12,028 - £13,617)

 An exciting opportunity to join the Warden Park Primary Academy team as the new nursery provision opens in January 2018.  The nursery will open its doors to 2-4 year olds, with daily sessions in the morning (8:45 – 11:45) and afternoon (12:15 – 15:15) with the option to stay for lunch (11:45 – 12:15).  

WPPA is looking for staff to join to the team as bank staff – it is anticipated that additional staff will be needed as the number of children attending the nursery increases.   Initially these positions will require staff to be available on an 'ad hoc' basis.

The successful candidates will:

  • Have a passion for working with children in an EY setting;
  • Have a motivation for improving the lives of all children;
  • Have an optimistic attitude and be flexible to the demands of the job;

Job opportunities at Warden Park Secondary

 

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES


Warden Park Secondary Academy has an exciting opportunity for volunteers to work with a range of learners who have a learning/additional support need and require a reader/scribe during examinations and to support assessment work. Full training to provide this support to their learners will be provided.

Volunteers should have a good academic ability, preferably with previous experience working with young people or within education, and appreciate the importance of confidentiality.

Volunteers will be asked to complete and return a Warden Park Support Staff application form available on our website (www.wardenpark.co.uk) and also provide the names and full contact details (including email addresses) of two professional referees. All successful volunteers will also be subject to a Health Assessment.

Warden Park Secondary Academy is part of the Sussex Learning Trust and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
